A celebration of the 1960s, 'Checkmate' captures my individual style, which I've developed during my degree. I was inspired by artists such as Bridget Riley and Victor Vasarely, as well as by the 1960s Opart movement. I'm attempting to capture the angular, striking and distinctive style from that era with a modern twist for a high-end interiors collection using a combination of hand and digital approaches, investigating techniques that generate depth. I intend to develop a collection for a niche market, inspired by trips to the Saatchi gallery and V&A as well as the research I conducted for my dissertation. I found my interest in interior design during my degree, only deviating from it to compete in the Burton Menswear competition in my final year. I like trying out new methods and have a keen eye for abstract pattern and design. I am now seeking for professional career chances in design or business so that I can someday mix the two.
