'The Observed' is a high-end fashion collection that seeks to capture the uneasy experience of constant scrutiny, under the unescapable gaze of judging eyes. The collection features statement prints for a consumer that desires unique and expressive pieces. My designs are conceptually driven influenced by works such as George Orwell’s '1984', the surrealists, and the uncanny valley. I initiated my design process through the observational drawings of characters that intrigue me, distorting and contrasting these into surreal compositions that underpin the narrative of my prints. Through my collection I have developed several hand writings in the pursuit of capturing tension, and mood, influenced by designers such as Kidsuper that focus on the application of media. I have undergone work experience at both Next menswear department, and at two runway shows for the experimental fashion designers Vin + Omi. I am now excited to pursue my passion for print and illustration in my future career.
