‘What Lies Beneath’ combines alluring hand embellishment with natural forms to organically create exquisite forms that are truly unique. Visual inspiration evolved from minerals such as crystals, stalactites, and rocks. Fascinated by these natural materials I adopted a multi-media approach, exploring tactility, texture, colour and form. This culminated in my exploration of the ground breaking field of alum crystals that can be infinitely regrown into different constellations, allowing for multiple designs executed from the same compound. To showcase these creations, I designed hand-embellished fabric bases to grow the crystals, resulting in a collection of bespoke couture concept pieces each completely unique. In the future I am keen to explore opportunities in a variety of industries including bridal couture and conceptual pieces for film. Couture artists that inspire me include Elie Saab, Zuhair Murad and Naeem Khan because of their refinement and exceptional attention to detail.
