Emily Rose Hurst
I believe that costumes are the most important element in establishing the visual language of a world, which is why I am passionate about pursuing a career in the industry. My background is in designing for movement, having been commissioned to create ballet soloist costumes prior to starting the BA (Hons) Costume Design and Construction course. University has extended my knowledge to cover all areas, including corsetry, historical and costuming for screen. I am a skilled milliner, having completed a variety of historical headpieces on placement with Lauren Martin in the summer of 2022, including some which were exhibited in museums. I have pursued this love of millinery further to include straw work, which is an endangered craft. I also have experience in puppetry, 3D modelling, mixed materials and embellishment, which I hope to utilise in my future career. Ultimately, I would like to design, as I love the process of developing and creating new worlds for audiences to enjoy.
