Influenced by the love story of Eros and Psyche, this project represents the union of soul and desire. My project explores femininity, visual symbolism and sensory play. Emotive themes of envy and lust have been explored through primary imagery of butterflies, the female form, symmetry and botanicals. This project is based on the self, initially exploring fantasy realms and mythical stories that I find personally nostalgic. The story of Eros and Psyche elevates my project from childhood folklore to a mature and appropriate approach to lingerie and intimates. Sensory, one of my keywords, has influenced my choice of soft silks and tulles that showcase delicate, maximalist embroideries a combination of hand techniques, digital and freehand Irish embroidery with fluid prints. After spending a year in industry working for a Luxury lingerie company, my experience assisting on photoshoots inspired me to want to create a collection of one-off pieces that would be hired or loaned for styling.
