I am a textiles focused, fashion knitwear student with a passion for slow-craft, machine knitting and visual art that has personal meaning. My practice is often driven by repurposing objects that thematically represent a project. My final major project aims to capture the eclectic essence of my Grandmother’s jewellery box through knitted outcomes, utilising beads and buttons from her collection. Old photographs were discovered, stored away in a safe space - her jewellery box. Taking them out and enhancing them through dye sublimation printing, interprets her memories in a new, tactile form. Over the course of the degree, I have discovered the important role that visual research plays in helping to bring my creative projects to life. Photography is a passion that I will continue to explore after leaving university as well as remaining open-minded to my options as a mixed media designer.
