My FMP is called Botanical Glitch, I am often inspired by the flowing and effortless forms within nature for my projects as it lends itself to my style of work and my love for drawing and textile. Taking inspiration from forms from nature, the concept aims to distort and manipulate the real to create the surreal. Fabricated floral shapes and bright bloomy colours have influenced the colour palette and silhouettes within the collection. Layering, ruching, ties and textured knits have helped to curate a final collection that highlights the distortion of the knits. The project aims to break away from fast fashion norms, putting an emphasis on quality and functionality over excessiveness, using simple pattern pieces and manipulating them to create unexpected shapes and textures around the body. My ambitions after graduation are to work for a company that puts design and quality first, I want to be able to have creative freedom and not be tied down to the fast-paced consumer trend cycle.
