Shweta Kumari

I am a final year MA Fashion Knitwear Design student. Growing up in Bihar, I was surrounded by Madhubani art—a traditional painting style rooted in storytelling and symbolism. My collection reimagines this heritage by transforming Madhubani motifs into contemporary knitwear. I have used eco-friendly yarns including Velina, merino fine wool, and organic cotton. Interviewing a Madhubani artisan was a turning point—it deepened my understanding of the motifs and their cultural significance. This collection is both a tribute to my roots and a personal journey to bridge heritage and high fashion. I hope to build a platform that brings regional art forms into the modern knitwear space. I am passionate about designing bold, meaningful garments that connect the past to the present—and spark future conversations.
