I am a Ukrainian abstract painter based in the UK. I make abstract paintings that are informed by my surroundings. I am interested in random shadows and reflections, capturing the formless and transient, especially in the shifting clouds. My primary focus is on the gesture and materiality of paint. Through expressive brushstrokes and thick, sculptural palette knife marks, I bring physicality to what is otherwise impermanent. The temporal quality of my subjects is reflected in the urgency and movement of my marks. This makes my artworks as much about the act of painting as it is about the subject matter. I was a Visual Art Open 2023 finalist (Young Category Award), and my work was exhibited and sold at The Other Art Fair. Beyond painting, I have a passion for learning Korean, which I've studied for the past two years at NTU. Last summer, I was awarded a scholarship by NTU to spend a month at Yonsei University in Seoul, further expanding my knowledge of the language and culture.
