I am a BA Fine Art student whose work explores themes of memory, identity and change. As I transition from my childhood home in a small rural village to university life in a city, I use my practice to process the emotional complexities of leaving behind family, familiarity, and the natural landscape I grew up in.
I ground myself by creating portraits using naturally occurring patterns that connect me to home; fingerprints and wrinkles, leaf veins, roots, and tree rings, all symbols that deepen with time and mirror each other.
Influenced by the textile skills passed down from my mother and grandmothers, I stitch this state of ‘in-between’ into fabric with a sense of permanence and comfort. My practice serves as a visual diary, reflecting on the tension between longing for the past and embracing the present.
My recent work was exhibited at the Surface Gallery in February as part of the NTU Festival, responding to the theme Push and Pull.
