Lily Jane Reed
I am a final year BA (Hons) Fashion Design student, focusing on womenswear. My final project called ‘Growing back into childhood happiness’ is about creating a fun, textural and colourful collection that makes the consumer smile. I was heavily inspired by my own childhood but through design development and my pattern cutting skills I wanted to adapt these childhood memories to make more grown up, practical and innovative garments. A key theme across my project is creating a plus size collection as being size inclusive is important to me as a designer and carried through all of my work. After receiving my 'Sustainability in Practice' certificate in 2021 it is vital that my project is also as sustainably conscious as possible. My collection is primarily made with waste, gifted and deadstock fabric. Alongside this, some of the garments in my collection are reversible, doubling the wear of each piece.
