Jack Firth
My final year project intends to contextualise the pitfalls and failures of our digital age through an exploration of the growing prevalence of repugnant, reprehensible and sick imagery, primarily as a result of the internet. Giving way to to an unregulated, unmoderated deluge of highly graphic, explicit and disturbing content. The project involves themes and graphics pertaining to real life death, assault and triage. Ultimately, my goal is to create a body of work the evokes the emotions felt when witnessing graphic death and suffering online; upset, perturbed, angry and depressed. I intend to provoke a visceral response of hatred and condemnation through my work, something I feel is seldom explored within the world of fashion, but thoroughly so in other mediums, presenting my work in a world not of frivolity or vivacity, but instead in one of misanthropy, nihilism and suffering, primarily as a statement regarding the bleak global landscape we live in.
