My name is Tracy Ukeje, I am a final year BA (Hons) Fashion Design student. My practice explores the impact of hybrid
identity in fashion through my experience as a Black second-generation Italian daughter of immigrants. I explore
both cultures within my work, drawing more inspiration from Italian architecture, as I feel a deeper connection
to my Italian identity while still acknowledging elements of Nigerian culture that have shaped me. This project
aims to raise awareness of the experiences of second-generation individuals, particularly how we are often
overlooked or not fully accepted by the countries we feel we belong to. Through my designs, I encourage a greater
understanding and acceptance of hybrid identities, especially as the world continues to become more globalised.
