My name is Tammy Limboonpiwat. I am a BA (Hons) Fashion Design student based in Nottingham, UK. I was born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand, and moved to the UK for my studies. Living here for the past four years has shaped my perspective on my cultural identity and led me to reflect on the value of my culture. My practice focuses on womenswear and exploring how Thai traditional fashion and cultural elements can be reinterpreted through a contemporary design context, focusing on the ‘sabai’, a Thai traditional garment draped over one shoulder, using Thai silk alongside beaded embroidery designs. This approach reflects on my aim to give respect for craftsmanship and the detailed hand processes behind Thai textile making. After graduating, I aim to work within a fashion company in a womenswear designer role or a related creative position in the industry.
