Hanna Boróka Szakács

I am a final year BA (Hons) Fashion Design student at Nottingham Trent University. I was born in Transylvania, Romania and I grew up surrounded by Transylvanian traditions as well as Transylvanian traditional dress which continues to inspire me today. I have always thought of fashion as a powerful way of self-expression as well as personal identity. My final collection explores my cultural heritage through modernity. I combine exaggerated contemporary silhouettes with bold forms as well as expressive colour palettes. I have always been drawn to pieces that are exaggerated and bold but pieces that also tell a story. Through my work, I want to highlight the importance of cultural identity in relation to fashion and the importance it has in the way we present ourselves. After I graduate, I want to continue exploring the importance of self-expression in relation to fashion.
