Rachel Adlard

I am a final-year BA Knitwear student with a strong technical foundation in domestic and Dubied knit, pattern cutting, and garment construction. My practice is informed by sportswear influences, combining functionality, performance, and form with a considered approach to knitwear development. I have developed skills in Shima Seiki programming, supporting innovation within my designs. My final collection, ""In the Making,"" explores contemporary knitwear beyond trend-led consumption, focusing on responsibly crafted garments designed for longevity and versatility. Placing the maker at its core, my work celebrates the time, skill, and intention embedded in each piece, while drawing on sportswear principles to create purposeful and adaptable garments. Through my practice, I aim to re-establish a meaningful connection between clothing and its maker, promoting a more thoughtful and sustainable approach to knitwear design.
