I am a final year BA Fashion Knitwear student, whose work aims to spotlight the human experience and also promote cultural/craft preservation. Storytelling is at the heart of my design practice, where I combine texture with memory to create pieces that illustrate emotion - through the sensory. My final major project is titled 'On The Ninth Night' and is my take on a Caribbean tradition that unifies family after loss, posing a question of how the diaspora will adapt and transform ancestral practices. The knitwear collection combines the use of Shima Seiki technology as well as print and embroidery techniques and I aspire to continue interweaving other specialisms within my future creative career. My experiences on placement working at Womenswear label 'Feben' and also building my brand 'TONI TEXTURES' have further fuelled my ambitions within textile innovation and human-centred design.
