During my time at NTU, I have explored a wide range of costume genres and techniques, including historical costume, pantomime, ballet, and various millinery practices. I have particularly enjoyed challenging myself across different areas of costume, especially in construction, where I have developed strong skills in pattern drafting and refined my techniques to achieve a high standard of finish. One of my most enjoyable projects was my Element 1 assignment, where I designed costumes for a Cinderella pantomime and constructed my Prince Charming design. I particularly enjoyed selecting fabrics that captured the vibrant, colourful, and sparkly nature of pantomime, as well as experimenting with a variety of materials, including stretch fabrics. My hands on experience in garment construction has given me a solid technical foundation. I am especially interested in fabric sourcing, with a focus on selecting the most appropriate materials to enhance each costume, an area I am keen to continue.
