I am a BA (Hons) Fashion Design student designing inclusive womenswear. My final collection explores female rage and body image through a technical and personal lens, informed by my experience as a mid-size woman in an industry that overlooks larger bodies. I design from a UK size 14 base, developing original patterns that prioritise fit, proportion, and movement for curvier bodies rather than relying on traditional grading methods. Alongside my own experience, I surveyed the public to understand lived experiences, informing thoughtful and considered design. Throughout my collection, I used techniques such as laser rastering, digital jacquard knit, embroidery and considered construction. My work expresses both restriction and empowerment, translating the emotional narrative into a wearable and functional form. This project challenges industry norms and contributes to a more representative approach to fashion design, where diverse bodies are considered throughout the design process.
