Chloe Horridge

I am a final year BA (Hons)Fashion Design Student who grew up in Nottingham surrounded by strong women who have taught me so much about sewing. My upbringing created my fierce passion for feminism and fashion design. During my second year, I started to explore this through my work by looking at how female rage is portrayed in art. This led to my dissertation topic which looked at how Femme Fatales from Film Noir can empower women. I have explored this further in my final collection titled ‘A Weapon of mass seduction’, that I made using the software Clo 3D. In this collection I focus on the importance of female empowerment and sexuality, and I express this through my form fitting garments. My collection draws inspiration from armour and my own clothing to portray how we use our style as a way to protect ourselves. I believe the message of my collection is incredibly important as we are experiencing an increase in femicide and misogyny. I hope my work brings a positive change for women.
