Amelia (mimi) Bendy

I am a designer who enjoys exploring how abstract ideas can be transformed into physical, wearable forms. My practice is driven by experimentation, particularly through the development of my own textiles and the creation of large-scale, expressive silhouettes. I work extensively with sheer fabrics and processes such as cyanotype and felting, using layering and distortion to create depth and movement within garments. I’m particularly interested in how materials can interact with the body in unexpected ways, often exaggerating shape and proportion. Sustainability is a key part of my design approach. I enjoy sourcing and working with conscious materials, including unconventional fibres such as sinamay, and developing textiles that reduce my own environmental impact. For me, design is about pushing material boundaries while remaining deliberate- creating work that is both visually engaging and responsibly made, where experimentation and sustainability means potential, not limitation.
