Mako Kawada

Ethnically Japanese but brought up in a myriad of cultures, my time as a BA (Hons) Fashion Design student has allowed me to explore my multifaceted identity through self-directed design, research and self expression. During my course, I have experimented with various sustainable design processes such as upcycling, natural dyeing, and fabric manipulation for minimal waste. Over high school and university, I have also actively engaged in various sustainable fashion initiatives such as NTU’s very own Professional Student Wardrobe. These experiences have shaped a strong vision for my future, where I now aspire to use my knowledge in fashion, sustainability, and multicultural understanding to engage in fashion for a good cause. Whether that be through sustainable design, social initiatives or assisting with global outreach of local brands, I strive to make a difference in the global fashion industry through connecting with like minded individuals.
