I am an artist from Steeton, Bradford, currently studying Fine Art in Nottingham. My practice explores personal experiences of trauma, rape and abuse, using art as a tool for survival, resistance and healing. Influenced by Eye-Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing therapies (EMDR), I work with found objects, stitching, painting and portraiture to reprocess traumatic memories – transforming evidence of violence into spaces of reflection and control. My work is deeply personal yet speaks to broader issues surrounding silence, justice and resilience. I turned to art to reclaim agency and confront what was taken from me. Following my degree, I plan to proceed with my work as a carer while pursuing a Master’s in Art Psychotherapy, continuing to explore art’s power as a force for recovery.
