After graduating in BA in Graphic Design, I focused on my passion of illustration. My MA gave me time to explore my dream, playing with & developing surface patterns. Following Neri Oxman’s advice that our one sole client is nature, led me to my theme, highlighting sustainability projects and a collaboration with Chatsworth’s Kitchen Gardens. The result is a range of textiles illustrating the importance & vibrancy of Bokashi Composting. To the untrained eye, this compost is a mound of dull, uninteresting dirt, brown & grainy. But it is alive, buzzing with bacteria & soil microbes, providing a much-needed health kick, recycling waste, avoiding chemicals & plastic-based composts. Fungi sprout up like a spotlight, indicating the new signs of life and supporting the abundance of delicate blooms bursting into life with abandon. The hope is to continue designing textiles & illustrating sustainability projects, promoting these endeavours to a wider audience.
