Eloisa Devlin-Hayes

My practice begins at the surface, at the edge of the body where the world makes contact. I am drawn to the nuances of touch, its comfort, absence, and the way it is reshaped by chronic skin conditions. Living with an ever-shifting surface due to chronic eczema has made me an obsessive observer of texture, inflammation and flare-ups. These moments of rupture and repair become both material and metaphor in my practice. I work across fabric, paint, and sculpture, translating the tactile reality of my body into forms that can be felt as much as seen. Being able to communicate visually is so imperative to me and I look forward to teaching future generations about the power of art after the completion of my Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) next year.
