My project, titled 'You are Here' explores the power of place and how it connects to memory and emotion. Using maps as my source of inspiration, I have used slow-making processes to practice a more meditative, purposeful way of working. My work involves many mediums, such as embroidery, patchwork, and knitting. I have incorporated natural dyes into my work, as well as sourced sustainable fabrics, such as organic silk and hemp cloth. Taking time to slow down and be present can allow for greater peace and reflection. By combining this approach with my research into the concept of "place", I have designed a range of interior design pieces. These pieces, including curtains, quilts, and cushions, are designed to be conversational and carry meaning.
