Growing up between two worlds shaped everything I create. As the daughter of Indian immigrants in Britain, I watched my mum navigate the space between heritage own identity, folding away her vibrant sarees for muted Western clothing, only to reclaim them years later with quiet defiance. This journey mirrors India's own, a nation whose rich textile traditions were suppressed under colonial rule, then slowly, powerfully reclaimed.
My final year collection explores this generational healing. Each piece traces the arc from loss to rediscovery, the way my mum taught me to drape & sew before I understood its significance, the shame I once felt wearing Indian clothing to school on culture day, and the pride I now carry in every thread. I've woven together traditional techniques like hand-embroidery and draping, creating garments that refuse to choose between identities.
This collection is my love letter to the women who kept our stories alive in stitches and patterns. It’s about coming home.
