I am a woven textile designer inspired by the natural world and the environment around me from both the palettes and imagery that the landscape creates to the fibres it produces. Community is at the forefront of my collection ‘Rooted Together’ and I have designed it for a local charity space in my hometown called The Long Table. I am heavily inspired by the ethos of this charity, providing a ‘pay what you can’ policy and offering fresh, organic meals to members of the town, supporting many groups within the community from farmers to families going through hardship. I am very passionate about all aspects of this project, from carrying out a sustainable practice such as using all natural fibres, to weaving bold, playful designs that create a warm and welcoming environment. I thoroughly enjoy the hands-on process of making and designing and I am excited to utilise the skills I have developed throughout this course within the textile industry.
