My name is Mia Satimburwa, a Nottingham-based final-year BA (Hons) Fashion Design student exploring fashion beyond the norm through garments that challenge everyday ideas of wearability. Inspired by 1800s vintage dress and the eerie presence of antique dolls, my work merges historical silhouettes with a haunting, contemporary edge. I drape directly on the mannequin, allowing each piece to form intuitively, often using donated vintage lace whose delicate textures shape both structure and narrative. Lace has become central to my practice, guiding my exploration of surface and detail. I also incorporate my own unsettling drawings, transforming them into printed textiles for accessories such as bags. As I approach graduation, I aim to connect with other creatives and brands, further develop my draping skills, and expand my practice through international opportunities and collaboration.
