I am a final year BA (Hons) Costume Design and Construction student. My creative practice is heavily based on historical costuming with inclusions of fantasy. Throughout the course, I enjoyed studying different disciplines within costume, such as pattern cutting, millinery, surface textiles, shapewear and breaking down clothing. This has led me to be able to expand my skills as a future costume maker and has helped me learn what I enjoy most. I have also learnt how to design and create costumes from different time periods and to explore different cultures, which I used in both of my final year projects: a 1860s day dress and a fantasy Saint costume with 20th century Russian inspirations. Over my second year, I completed my certificate of professional practice, which gave me experience working on college theatre performances. I am most passionate about historical costume construction and hope to use these skills in the future to create costumes for theatre and museums.
