Hi I’m Sabina Huxley, an aspiring costume designer and illustrator with a focus on screen costuming.
Colour, pattern, texture and natural materials inform my design process using historical imagery and screen practitioner research to give context.
I use hand drawing and watercolour to create fluid illustrations that suggest meaning for a character. With embellishment as a focus, I often design specific details for a character’s story. As to me costume design is about storytelling and conveying meaning through the garments a human being wears.
Textile work is something I am also drawn to, with making a medium I have always enjoyed. Embroidery, beading, smocking techniques and dying fabric are my go to methods to amp up a costume’s detailing.
I also enjoy draping material as I feel it speaks to the fluidity of my costume illustration work.
I am also suited to supervising, dressing and styling work.
I available at sabinahuxley24@outlook.com for cv/portfolio.
