I’m Izzy Welford, a final year BA (Hons) Fashion Design student at NTU. From a young age, I knew I wanted to be a bridal wear designer. My love for the industry stemming from watching my mum trying on wedding dresses of all fabrics and shapes until she found the one. I wanted to bring this love forward into my final product collection. My concept explores femininity through the use of florals and silhouette, focusing on creating volume and spectacle. I’ve created a complete single outfit, that features a different look for every part of the bride’s special day. My project has a strong link to design sustainability, with the use of: donated dead stock fabrics, natural dye processes and sustainable pattern cutting techniques. Having previous experiences of working in bridal boutiques, I’ve gained valuable knowledge and industry skills that helped me develop my garments and create effective branding. In the future, I plan to use this project as the groundwork for my own bridal brand.
