Dana Ilinca

I enjoy creating freely, using a wide range of materials to aid me in creating playful, spontaneous illustrations. Observational drawing is a core part of my process, as I am creatively influenced by the place I grew up, an area chock-full of run-down buildings left behind from a bygone era, now being quickly overtaken by sleek personality-less structures, making me aware of how things we create fit into the world and how, in turn, environments affect us. Through my work, I focus on exploring the city and the relationship between people and urban spaces, and portraying the beautiful parts of everyday life. My practice currently revolves around book-making, which I enjoy due to the medium's tactile nature and the ability to tell a story through a cohesive body of work.
