Aishani Bhattacharya

My name is Ty, and I’m an Illustration student of Indian heritage, raised in Dubai. Much of my work is shaped by my experience living with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), which impacts how I view identity, time, and emotion. Illustration has become a space where I explore mental health not just as a subject, but as a lived reality. I often contrast heavy themes with soft, pastel or complementary colour palettes to create a sense of emotional duality, gentle but honest. I’m drawn to raw, sketchy linework, what I call “chicken scratching,” for its energy and immediacy, allowing me to capture movement and emotional intensity. Alongside illustration, I am passionate about storyboarding, where I can combine visual storytelling with rhythm and symbolism. I have recently begun learning animation to give my work new life through motion and timing.
