I am Maria McGarry. I specialize in woven textiles and have found an interest in spreading joy and creativity throughout my work. I’ve explored a range of colour palettes but feel like I really thrive using bright, eye catching colours which shows in my recent project ‘Constructed Psychedelia’. It is inspired by the liquid light shows in the 60’s that supported rock music hippie’s would listen to. It gives a sense of freedom and playfulness whilst exploring a range of textures. Using influences from my project I have recently been shortlisted for the I-Dott wallpaper competition. In the future I’m open to new opportunities in the textiles world and exploring what’s out there, my current interests are in trend forecasting and design. I’d like to have a job that allows me to travel and experience different cultures.
