I’m Maddie Watson a final year BA (Hons) Fashion Communication student fashion communicator who’s always been obsessed with the connection between fans, artists, and media. Since my first year, I’ve been drawn to where fashion and music meet within pop culture and fan communities. A lot of that comes from me being a fangirl myself. I’ve always loved that feeling of escaping into something bigger than everyday life. My recent project explored parasocial relationships and how they can actually bring people together, building communities around shared interests and proving that escapism and belonging aren’t limited by age. I did this trough immersive exclusive pop-up artist inspired events promoted by a zine subscription. I love creating experiences and work that feel immersive, fun, and a little bit addictive, the kind of thing people genuinely want to be part of. After graduating I hope to collaborate with brands and talent to create this escapes for the consumer from everyday life.
