Jess Shenton

Hi, I’m Jess Shenton. I came to Nottingham to study as a BA (Hons) Illustration. My practice is creating characters, including monsters inspired by fantasy themes, and exploring different types of bugs. My medium was drawing 2D in digital, but for my final year, I’ve been experimenting with digital 3D sculpting. I’m working on my project called Place; it’s about a plush lamb, named Chelsea, who was tossed away because she wasn’t ‘perfect’. I want to create 3D printed figurines inspired by blind boxes and show each figurine looking different, based on toy factory errors. I want to show the audience that we’re not born perfect, and that’s okay. When I graduate, I hope to continue my 3D work, and create more characters. My dream job is to become a video game concept artist and bring characters to life.
