As a third-year BA (Hons) Fashion Design student at Nottingham Trent University, my work is rooted in creating unexpected, sometimes shocking, silhouettes. I am passionate about developing unique and complex designs that challenge me, pushing garments into unfamiliar territory. While studying fashion, I noticed how many of us dress to belong, safe and controlled. I also realised how often I base my own style on societal assumptions, resulting, in my opinion, in unremarkable outfits. This led me to explore what it would mean to step away from reality. What happens when that control slips? My final-year project explores the idea of Surreality and the merging of dream and reality. However, I wanted to go further and examine what happens when the unconscious begins to take over the body, where silhouettes distort, expand, and become something surreal and unfamiliar. It is about confronting our hidden thoughts and questioning how much of ourselves we quietly suppress to fit in, allowing our
