My work is influenced by seasons of life, using art as a method of documenting experiences, similar to journal keeping. I primarily keep a focus on pragmatic and traditionally taught methods of painting, but through my BA (Hons) Illustration degree, I have found value in experimenting within the structure of this methodical foundation. Similarly to how in a lab, one would control variables to measure the value of what they alter with each experiment, I am playing with controlling variables (such as initial structure utilising an envelope method, and maintaining accurate value), while giving freedom to aspects such as application of paint, and the distance of hue and chroma from reality. I hope to continue progressing in quality of knowledge and application, because there is nothing quite like the surprise and satisfaction when something you had envisioned is replicated into tangible work.
