Design that makes people stop and see the world in a new way is what I am drawn to. Photography, typography and communication are all areas that define me as a designer. I’m Katarina, a final year BA (Hons) Graphic Design student who is keen to work in art direction. I am fascinated by how much detail goes into typography and how meticulous you have to be. I am also observant, and photography allows me to capture my unique perception of the world. I particularly love the immediacy of taking photos with an iPhone. I can observe aspects of a scene which others might overlook, like my ‘Rubbish Photography’ book. I documented photos of rubbish I’d seen in the urban environment over a period of time, providing a new meaning to the discarded item. I am particularly comfortable presenting my ideas and how I work visually to an audience on social media or interacting with people in real life.
