Hi, my name is Elle, and I am a graduate in BA (Hons) Costume Design & Construction with a keen interest in millinery and historical costuming in a fantasy style. I discovered that I was interested in millinery while I was creating my ‘Character headpiece’ inspired by a character from the Disney Fairies books who is a water fairy, by using techniques such as beading and embroidery to create a headpiece inspired by aspects of the ocean and the treasures found there. Following on from this project and due to growing interest in fantasy fiction at the time I decided to base my ‘Patterns for performance’ costume on the character of Cinderella from Into the Woods which allowed me to be able to combine my love of fantasy fiction with my intension to improve in creating historical garments from around the 16th and 17th centuries. My aspirations for my career would involve continuing to creature fantasy inspired costumes and accessories and ply even opening my own fantasy costume business.
