My name is Christie Murrain and I’m a final year BA (Hons) Graphic Design student based in the West Midlands. I have a keen interest in illustration, which I’d like to develop further. My practice also includes editorial design, branding, and copywriting. In college, I found myself drawn to surface patterns although I haven’t further explored this within university, but it is an area I’m interested in developing. In recent projects I’ve discovered that I enjoy the research stage a lot, often going in depth about the rationale behind design choices. My project Menda City has been informed by my dissertation, to highlight why it’s important to read nutritional information and how easy it can be to exploit this. I’ve been able to apply my in-depth research into certain branding strategies to inform this project. After the course, I’d like to go into branding but I’m still exploring which design discipline suits me best.
