For my final year project, I have taken inspiration from the North Yorkshire coast as this is where I have grown up. I have always felt privileged to be able to live in such a naturally beautiful area and wanted to be able to share this with others through an interiors collection. Capturing different components of the landscape such as the sea and the sand as well as looking at the unusual properties of seaweed. This has included experimenting with natural dye techniques along with using bioplastic recipes to create my own beads for a more organic and natural feel. My collection is designed to be very textured and tactile; comforting and enticing to touch. Capturing the tranquillity of the coastal landscape to promote well-being while also drawing attention to the distressed, organic textures, finding the natural beauty of surfaces that others may tend to overlook.
