2136 | is set in a dystopian future in which the effects of climate change have permanently destroyed the planet. Taking cues from some of the remarkable adaptations found in nature, the project explores how humans might evolve in a similar way, imagining how some adaptations might manifest themselves in a textile context to help the wearer adapt to their environment. With a passion for material innovation, Julia takes a multimedia approach in her work, combining both organic and geometric features. Focussing on material, structure, and systemic movement, this is an exploratory collection which imagines what the future of textiles, and humanity, might look like. Finalist in the RSA 2021 student design award.
