My name is Shuxu Zhao and I am a studying on the MA in Illustration. I'm honoured to have the opportunity to work on a project that I have always wanted to do and have been planning for a long time. The theme of this project is about memories of my grandmother and me - a short graphic novel. The images in this book combine elements of comics and illustrations. The story begins with a bus ticket I received and when I got on the bus I opened the box in the hands of the monster next to me and was plunged into a childhood memory. The seasons rotate in memory. The story of my grandmother and I seems to be happening right before my eyes. I was brought back to reality when my grandmother put the scarf she had knitted by hand around me. The station at my grandmother's house arrived and I needed to walk on alone, facing an unknown future... Through this book, I not only reflected on my often neglected relationships but also built up my illustration experience.
