My work re-evaluates the economic and industrial infrastructures of the changing British landscape. Produced as a collection of black and white photographs, the work is concerned with spatial/social politics which can be read within the commonplace and familiar of the urban and semi-rural landscape. The project challenges our understanding of land and its use; as leisure, resource, commerce and dwelling. The slower engagement forged by the very nature of using a large-format field camera, allowed for reflection on the historical importance of landscape representation within photographic history and a means to evaluate our contemporary understanding of the lands we seek to control.
