Rosie Marples is an artist based in Sheffield. Marples’ work explores the human connection to place. Using a multi-media approach, she creates large scale installations. Data is collected from environments that usually have personal, regional or cultural significance. The specific locations dictate the use of materials. Data from sights is abstracted and edited in an attempt to create an echo of a place. Growing up in Sheffield many of the artist’s chosen spaces to work with are within this region. Being a part of a family heavily involved in Sheffield’s manufacturing industry, her work often centres around these themes.
