Alice Clarke explores the processes within making though ceramics and explores how past experiences and intuition affect her work. Clarke manipulates clay by hand, leaving behind a strong tactile feeling and the importance of the artist’s hand. Clarke is fascinated by the different textures, colours and patterns within the work she produces and how they are able to allow the viewer to have an insight into her mind and her creative process. Clarke uses personal memories of the sea to establish a connection with the viewer. Clarke’s personal influences remain as just that, it is important for them to remain as hints so that viewer can have their own experiences with the work.
