The disappearance of my grandfather in a light aircraft over the English Channel in 1971, along with a variety of sources from plane wreckage imagery to vintage aviation vehicles have inspired my work. This, combined with inspiration from Lee Krasner’s artwork, has created a contemporary yet wearable range. My collection has focused on emulating metallic wreckage using eyelets and elastic cord to control the 'crumpled' shapes. I combined this with traditional flight clothing such as aviator jackets and flight vests. My collection is emotionally sustainable as the garments are simple but considered. Furthermore the muted colour palette is intended to add to the wearability of the garments.
