Ruby Niamh Morphett

I am a costume designer and maker originally from West Yorkshire, who loves everything camp and eccentric. My main areas of interest are theatre, pantomime, performance art and cosplay. Structural pieces are a key element of my work. Past examples include a recreation of Leigh Bowery's red, spiky headpiece, a horned yarn-wig, and various masks. I often lean towards unusual materials and textures, with fur being one of my favourites to work with. I am mostly inspired by Queer culture, drag, and alternative fashion, implementing many of the aesthetics and techniques found in these styles within my own work. I would love to work with pantomimes, especially after making a dame costume of one of the ugly sisters from Cinderella. I would also like to work within musical theatre, with productions such as ""Cats!"", ""Priscilla, Queen of the Desert"", ""Little Shop of Horrors"", and ""Hedwig and the Angry Inch"" influencing a lot of my work.
